Saanichton, B.C. - BC Hockey is proud to support the International Ice Hockey Federation’s 11th annual World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend, slated for October 8-9, 2022.

The goal of this weekend is to have events from coast-to-coast-to-coast that recruit, retain and engage female players, coaches, officials and fans - old and new. It aims to celebrate and grow the game while bringing teams together to have some fun through grassroots programming led by female hockey associations, minor hockey associations and communities.

“This is always a special weekend that we look forward to every year,” BC Hockey’s Vice President, Member Services - Minor & Female Brianna Davey said. “Districts and MHAs can create an event to support this cause and their players. It is an opportunity for girls of all ages to try hockey while making memories through the game that we all love."

Any Districts or MHAs interested in hosting an event have until September 16th, hosts can register their event HERE. Hockey Canada will supply gifts to approved events on a first come, first approved basis.

Hosts can get involved in the weekend in a variety of different ways. Events supported by Hockey Canada must meet at least one of the three main purposes of the event weekend - recruitment, retention or engagement.
